Melissa Huff Poetry Reading & Open Mic

November 18, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Melissa Huff has returned to an early love of writing first developed during her college years. When she found herself craving a non-linear creative process that draws heavily on intuition, sculpting poems by folding words around images and ideas turned out to be just the thing.

Melissa enjoys exploring both formal poetry and free verse, for which she has garnered awards from the Illinois State Poetry Society, Poets & Patrons, Highland Park Poetry and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. Her publishing credits include River Poets Journal, Highland Park Poetry, Glass: Facets of Poetry and Winterwolf Press. She is a member of the Evanston poetry workshop group, Plumb Line Poets, and currently serves as the secretary of the Illinois State Poetry Society. Before immersing herself in poetry, Melissa spent fifteen years making one-of-a-kind jewelry, seen at http://www.melissahuff.com. She currently experiments with mixed media painting and collage. Melissa holds degrees in mathematics and art and has represented musicians and worked in the publishing field. She lives in Chicago and Champaign, Illinois.

An open mic immediately follows. Poets may bring up to six poems to share. Everyone is welcome to experience the word magic and the delicious teas and treats available at Madame ZuZu’s.
